Twitter Plans to Add 'Tip Jar' Feature to Let Creators Monetise Content: Report

The Tip Jar on Twitter will be incorporated with a variety of payment services.

Months after experimenting with various ways to encourage its creators and influencers to monetise their content, Twitter aims to add a new Tip Jar icon to its website.

The Facebook-owned microblogging site has been attempting to provide a variety of features to its users in order to enable them to contribute influential content to the platform in order to profit from it. Newsletters and Super Follows are two new functions.

Twitter may add a new feature to its user profiles called Tip Jar icon (which looks like cash and will be integrated with multiple payment services including Patreon, PayPal, Venmo, and Cash App), according to Mashable India. Twitter's audio-only Spaces network, which will compete with the Clubhouse audio chat app, is supposed to get a similar feature.

The Tip Jar icon, when activated, allows users to monetise their content on Twitter Spaces and Twitter by gathering tips from other users.

According to Mashable India, the microblogging site has yet to make the feature official, and it is unclear who would be permitted to use the Tip Jar button on their profile and Spaces. However, it is assumed that in order to use the feature, users would need a certain number of followers.
